Too many resources required for little in the way of improvement in sound quality, from what I've been seeing/hearing. Much as I'm impressed with Keyscape, not going there. Pair that up with everybody else (UVI comes to mind with Ravenscroft, and their own suite of libraries), Pianoteq, Acoustic Samples, etc. NI comes with some cool advantages such as what appears to be open source for 3rd parties, PLUS their controller, Komplete Kontrol, which can map completely to all open-source NI formats with more coming onstream every month. That said, I'm doing my due diligence and I think I've pared down to a choice between NI and UVI as they seem to have the most possibilities and convenience I'm looking for. Now, I'm in the market for a good 88 weighted controller and software (AC/EP centric). So the only hardware I've invested in lately has been in computer upgrades. and increasingly even two year old boards from the 'big 4 or 5' manufacturers are looking like they're gonna be your father's Oldsmobile sooner than later. Maybe it's the time of year (or maybe it's the time of man ) but it seems every board is becoming so replaceable, so rehashed, and so incomplete for the money. I've spent too much time perusing the 'Boulevard of Broken Dreams' aka CraigsList, looking for alternatives from what's the latest hot thing here at KC. It's time for me as I'm happily gigging more at solo piano gigs than with bands. I've recently made the decision to turn away from hardware keyboards.
